October Festivities Harvest In The Rockaways

During the month of October, the Rockaway Artists Alliance, as part of the Queens Millennium Festival, are hosting a number of events.

101 Deli and Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer sponsor a sculpture walk today, Saturday, October 14, from 12 noon until 5 p.m. at building T-7 in Fort Tilden. Meet the artists while touring their work in a large display of variation and imagination.

Sunday, October 15, Madelaine’s Chocolate sponsors Stories By The Sea, which is being held at Fort Tilden at 1 p.m., followed by OLUJIMI Dance and Drum ensemble along with Balinese dance and video by Denis Macrae, which is sponsored by McDonald’s. A Balinese mask collection will be on display as well.

On Saturday, October 21, the Beach Club and Connolly’s are sponsoring a birdwalk at 10 a.m. at building 1 in Fort Tilden and a networking costume party at 8 p.m. Come as your favorite work of art or artist.

Visit the Art of Tiffany at the Russel Sage Church on Beach 9 street on Sunday, October 22 at 1 p.m. Also happening on that day is Animal Afternoon at 2 p.m. and a drawing workshop at 3 p.m.

Artists Studio Tour meets at the Beach Club on Saturday, October 28 at noon. Poetry, music and slides at 3 p.m. and a musical performance by Rooftop Life at 4:30 p.m.

On Halloween, October 31, the Rockaway Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the RAA’s annual Halloween Extravaganza. Events start at 5 p.m. and go until 8 p.m. Anyone who is brave enough is invited.

Don’t miss out on Rockaway Theater Company’s production of "Once Upon a Mattress," which begins at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with performances on Sunday, October 15 and 22 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. All performances are held at the Post Theater.

Exhibitions of sTudio 6 and T-7 will be running until Sunday, November 12. Gallery hours are: Friday 7 p.m. until 10 p.m., Saturday 12 noon until 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. until 10 p.m., and on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
