BCHS To Host Open House

Beach Channel High School will host an Open House for all students and their families who are interested in seeing the many and varied academic programs that the school has to offer students who may attend in September 2001. Doors will open to the public at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2001. Prospective students and their parents will be greeted with the fruits of the labor of the talented students of Beach Channel High School. An art exhibit of students work encompassing all genres will be displayed in the main lobby as well as a representative group of talented student musicians who will provide musical interludes. To further introduce you to BCHS, a video of our CREW team, the only rowing team in the New York City school system, will be available for viewing. Other media presentations will include videos of our Oceanography Institute and multi-cultural festivals as well as those of the many other activities continually going on in the school.

Students and parents will then assemble in the auditorium for a brief introductory session with the principal and assistant principals. After that, the guests will assemble into groups and will visit specific locations throughout the school to see the beautiful, modern facilities and to learn about the specialized programs that Beach Channel has to offer. The educational options programs are: The Oceanography Institute, The Business Institute, The Art Institute, The Law Institute, The Physical Education and Recreation Institute and the Pre-Architecture Institute. Beach Channel also has an Honors Institute that is available to students with an 87.5 percent average or higher. Guests will be able to interact with student leaders and administration as they move from place to place on their tours. Representatives from teams, clubs and special services will be available to answer your questions.

The evening will wind up with a light collation for all visitors.

Beach Channel High School is located at 100-00 Beach Channel drive in Rockaway Park. It can be reached via car by taking the Belt parkway to Exit 17S over the Cross Bay bridge...by train via the A and S train...and via bus Q53, Q35, or Q22. Please check with the MTA for travel directions to meet your individual needs.
