SFDS Starts Off
On Right Foot

Saint Francis De Sales Third Grade Boys Team 2 started off on the right
foot with an opening day 4-1 victory over Saint Francis Assisi.

With goalkeeper Patrick Memi under the weather, the net duties would be split admirably by Eddie Warren and Eddie Watt. Early goals by Brian King, who was a thorn in the side of the Assisi keeper all day, and Michael Mangano put SFDS up 2-0.

James McCool and Kevin Gilmartin stalked the field with confidence forcing the ball into the Assisi zone.
The SFDS defense was on alert as Vincent Esposito, Chris Timmons and Conor Mahoney swept their end clean of SFA attackers. Johnny Duggan with his new found speed put SFDS up 3-0 on a nice feed from Michael Carnacchio. Ryan Laurain and Brendan Dillon stayed focussed on
the ball not letting anything squirt by.

Eddie Warren came out of the net in the second half to add the cap on the scoring and assuring that Mr. Softee would stop at his house that afternoon. The stingy SFDS defense would let in one goal by their opponent to make the final 4-1.

This weekend SFDS Teams 1 and 2 battle it out at Fort Tilden Saturday. Come out and cheer them on.
