This is regarding the summer weekend restriction of cars in the Belle Harbor, Rockaway Park area in Queens.
People who reside in apartment buildings or those who have no access to parking for their cars, find it impossible to find a space at any cost, due to strict no parking rule in the entire area, during the summer months. It is unconscionable to place such a burden on residents who have to travel a mile and then there is no assurance space will be found. This situation was manageable when parking was available in the rear of Waldbaum’s lot, but now it is no longer permitted.
A solution for this problem would be the issuing of permits to residents in the area at a fee agreed to by authorities. This would eliminate the hardship endured by car owners and bring needed revenue to the county.
