Cops Seeking Witness

Detectives from the 101 Precinct are in the midst of an investigation of a shooting of an off-duty New York City corrections officer that occurred on Saturday, September 2, 2000 at the Elks Lodge located at 14-10 Beach Channel drive, Far Rockaway.

According to police, the victim, whose name is being withheld at this time, was struck once in the head with a .22 caliber bullet. The incident occurred at 3:20 a.m. Police who are investigating the incident told The Wave that although there were several people at the lodge at the time of the shooting, no one is coming forward with any information that would lead them to the shooter. In addition, according to police, the victim and her companion for the evening are not cooperating in the investigation. All the information known at press time was that several people heard a shot, but no one saw the shooter.
