Larcenists Nabbed Patrol Cops On The Ball
Patrol Cops On The Ball
Belle Harbor residents might be able to rest a bit easier this week knowing that 100 Precinct police have nabbed at least two of the persons they believe to have committed several break-ins in automobiles, sheds and garages in that area over the past several months.
Joseph (Pogo) Palagonia, 21, of Beach 114 street, and Keith Ekbon, 18, of Beach 113 street and Rockaway Beach boulevard, were arrested late last week and charged with break-ins. Palagonia will face a charge of petit larceny, while Ekbom was charged with petit larceny, possession of burglary tools and criminal possession of stolen property.
According to Captain John Miller, Palagonia and Ekbon, both known to the department and both with records for arrests on similar crimes, are alleged to have participated in several break-ins and burglaries of automobiles in the Belle Harbor area.
Miller credited very observant patrol cops with helping to break this case. According to Miller, two uniformed officers observed two males on Neponsit avenue at 5 a.m. last week just shortly after a burglary had been reported. The two were later identified as Palagonia and Ekbom.
There remain many unsolved burglaries in the Belle Harbor area and the investigation is ongoing.
