Four non-Rockawayite boaters were caught off guard early Sunday afternoon, at approximately 2:30 p.m., when their vessel took on water from choppy waves 50 yards from shore at Beach 124 street. Police Sgt. Hansen, among the first emergency personnel at the scene, radioed for NYPD aviation which responded with two choppers.
