On The Beach… With Beverly Baxter

Just imagine. You're planning a dinner party and you can invite 50
guests. You have access to the movers and shakers who are at the height of
the entertainment, financial, political, and literary worlds. Whom, dead or living, would you choose to be on your guest list? This would be mine!

First, at the political table, I'd have Bill Clinton (just to see who would
be on his arm! and he's brilliant!), Rudy Giuliani, Mario Cuomo, Bill
Bradley, John McCain, Adlai Stevenson, Martin Luther King jr., Robert F. Kennedy, John F. Kennedy, Jacqueline Kennedy, John Kennedy jr., Barry Schecht, Alan Keyes, William F. Buckley, Yitsak Rabin, Leah Rabin, Gerry Adams, Tony Blair, Princess Diana, Winston Churchill, Alan Greenspan, and Alice Longworth Roosevelt!

At other tables, I would have: Oprah Winfrey, Geraldo Rivera, Don Imus, David Letterman, Charles Grodin, Dick Cavett, Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Jack Nicholson, Billy Wilder, Robert Deniro, John Huston, Marilyn Monroe with both Joe Dimaggio and Arthur Miller, Arthur Penn, Richard Harris,
Vivien Leigh, Edward Steichen, Georgia O'Keefe, Brancusi, Bert Stern, Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks, Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Bob Fosse, Jerome Robbins, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Placido Domingo, Ballanchine, Henry Miller, W.C. Fields, Lucille Ball, Charlie Chaplin, Tennesse Williams, Henrik Ibsen, Frank Sinatra, Madonna, Tony Bennett, Barbra Streisand, Marlene Dietrich, Georgio Armani, Tom Ford, CoCo Chanel, Cary Grant, Steve Jobs, Leo LaPorte, Ted Turner, Mickey Mantle, Kobe Bryant, and Mario Andretti!

What a party this would be! Can you imagine the seating arrangements!! Notice that I would neither invite George W. Bush nor Al Gore! Too boring!
