A Better Idea?

Dear Editor;

In the same edition that applauds the revival of public ferry service from Roxbury to Manhattan, the Wave calls for drastic cutbacks in the bus service between it and the rest of the peninsula. Go figure.

The justification for elimination of Q22 bus service east of 116 street is
given as the narrowness of Rockaway Beach boulevard. According to the
editorial, this results in cars crossing the double yellow line in order to
get around stopped buses. Cars illegally crossing a double yellow line in
order to circumvent a stopped bus is not an argument for elimination of the bus service, unless The Wave also considers extending this to elimination of school buses. After all, a stopped bus is a stopped bus.

Rather, it is an argument for widening the boulevard. Perhaps widening should be considered as part of the proposed plans for repaving the boulevard between 116 and 125 streets.
