Revern Sharp, of 22-04 Collier avenue, Far Rockaway, was arrested on Saturday, September 2, by District 23 Transit Officer Villafane for public lewdness while riding on the ‘A’ train line from Rockaway into Manhattan at approximately 10:00 a.m.
A female train commuter observed Sharp performing a lewd act and got off the train at the Aqueduct station and immediately reported the incident to Transit Officer Villafane. Since the train had already started to pull out of the Aqueduct station, Villafane called ahead to the Rockaway boulevard station and Sharp was located and detained until Villafane arrived at Rockaway boulevard to make the arrest and take him into custody.
The prior Saturday, August 26, a 15-year-old girl, who was standing on the Edgemere ‘A’ Train station platform at Beach 36 street and the freeway, reported to transit detectives that she was accosted by a man, with the same physical description as Sharp, performing a lewd act. Sharp has also been officially charged with public lewdness in this incident.
Sharp seems to have a knack for eluding the incarceration step in the criminal justice system, and continues to be returned to the streets, and subway platforms of Rockaway. He was just arrested by officers of the 101 Precinct in July for a June act of public lewdness, and is also being investigated on similar charges occurring in the 113 and 114 precincts. These cases are currently under investigation by the NYPD Special Victim’s Unit.
After his arrest, transit police found that he had six prior arrests on his record, including two for sexual abuse, and one each for assault, public lewdness, robbery, and burglary.
