Waldheim Report On Softball

By Corinne Anne Waldheim
Looks like I’ll have to wing it this week, it seems I left my notes at home!

In the final round of the playoffs last Sunday the Mudsharks clinched the championship berth in two. The Rockies made a valiant effort, but came up short in the end.

In game one, home runs were hit hard and often as Chris McCarthy and Gene Mohr drove a few out of the park to aid in the routing. Donald Keller added his own dinger to the scoreboard. Kenny Jackowski pulled a Kevin Harnischer (Cardinals) around the bases as Donald was too fast for him. Keller also made an excellent defensive play in the outfield. Mohr hit another HR in game two. Charlie Kinzie made a superb play at third base and hit the ball hard.

Speaking of the Cardinals, Keven Steininger did not get mentioned in last week’s article so I am writing his name twice in this week’s article. Kevin Steininger.

The Daggers were victorious, taking two of three games against the Muggers last week. The Grassy Point team was unable to take a second game, allowing the Daggers to advance to the championship. Better luck next year.

From what I remember, Bo hit four homers in the first game. I believe that is a league record. Kenny Rat and Mike Salica also added a few home runs.

I have to tell Dagger George he is forgiven so he stops apologizing to me for saying: "The Waldheim Report sucks."

Here is a direct quote from the notorious Meatball, "Daggers, Daggers, Daggers, Daggers, Daggers?"

To Snoopy: Don’t mess with me when I am on stage singing karaoke.

Looks like it will be Rockaway vs. Broad Channel on Sunday. So win or lose, the Daggers will get coverage! Good luck boys. My advanced condolences to the umpires who will have their hands full.

Love always, Waldheim.
