Dot on Roxbury by Dotty Taphouse

Roxbury Catholic Club had a lovely mini card party on Friday, August 11. There were plenty of prized refreshments and coffee and cake. Mary McEnroe was the chairlady and with her committee ran the very enjoyable affair.

Denise and Scot Niebel had their annual beach party planned for Saturday, August 12, but since the weather was bad it was held in the Catholic Club where everyone had a good time.

Mike Byrnes (a very good singer of Roxbury) was given a surprise retirement party from the New York City Fire Department on Sunday, August 12. His lovely wife Jeanne planned it and Mike was greatly surprised. Another happy occasion!

The Yikes softball team of Roxbury planned on having their annual beach party on Saturday night and instead of canceling because of the weather it was held in the Mayor’s Committee Clubhouse where the delicious food was prepared by the players.

The weather has really been damp and wet for the last couple of weeks, but it has happened before in the summer season during the two years we ran the Roxbury Sweet Shoppe.

Happy Birthday Doreen Serrian, August 20, and Terry Donohue, August 26.
