On Tuesday, July 11, 80 golfers turned out to support the St. Virgilius Sixth Annual Golf Tournament. The outing raised over $16,500 for the Broad Channel school, bring the six-year total to over $70,000.
The weather conditions were perfect that day and the Forest Park Golf Course was in great shape. The combination led to some impressive play. Top honors for the day went to perennial long-drive champ, Billy Gill, sr., who bested the field with a score of 80.
The winning foursome consisted of Ricky Guttieri, Pat Santelo, Eddie Maffia, and Pat Murray. The group posted a net 298. Frank Fedzivk took low net honors with a score of 73.
The Bull’s-eye Award went to Richie Muller on the third hole and John Willsen on 15, while muscleman Kevin Steinenger outdrove them all on the par five 11th hole.
The Teddy Rauert Best Dressed Award went to the inimitable Mickey Dowd who represented a large contingency from Broad Channel North (a.k.a. Howard Beach). Mickey donned a stunning Tommy Hilfiger outfit.
The evening party was a great time as the golfers and duffers alike enjoyed the antics of DJ Teddy and helped top supporters Richie and Donna Doyle celebrate their eighth wedding anniversary. Everyone enjoyed the terrific spread put out by gracious hosts Steve and Kenny Good at the Beach Club.
