Attention Dog Owners!

Dear Editor;

This letter is being written to all the dog owners of Rockaway. Never mind
the fact that there are signs posted which prohibit dogs on the beach and
you are still out there with your dogs anyway. Never mind the fact that it
could not be easier to clean up after a dog on the sand and you still leave
the dog excrement on the beach (in direct violation of State Public Health
Law 1310). Never mind the fact that you believe that your dog will not bite
so you unleash it on the beach (in direct violation of Health Code Section
161.05) and it comes running at me as I jog and I have no idea whether it
bites or not (the fact that you start to yell frantically as it runs at me
makes me believe that you are not sure if it will bite or not). Never mind
the fact that there are pooper-scooper laws in New York City and there are
stretches of Rockaway Beach boulevard that stink to high heaven due to the dog feces left behind. I realize that most dog owners are responsible when it comes to the above mentioned items but the ones who are not are giving you all a bad name.
Please people, we live in a beautiful neighborhood with beautiful beaches,
leash and pick up after your dog.

STEPHEN DECRESCENZO
