No Sanitation Pick-up July 4

There will be no street cleaning, refuse, or recycling collection conducted by the New York City Department of Sanitation on Tuesday, July 4, 2000 in observance of Independence Day.

Regarding the refuse collection schedule, residents who normally receive Tuesday garbage collection should place their trash out at curbside Tuesday evening for collection. Some residents may experience a slight disruption of on time household collection service.

Areas with Tuesday weekly curbside recycling collection schedules will not receive collection until Tuesday, July 11, 2000.

Areas that are scheduled to receive refuse and recycling collection on Wednesday, July 5, 2000 should place their trash at curbside as normally scheduled.

Shopkeepers, restaurant managers, and other merchants who are serviced by private cartering companies should contact their refuse haulers to determine whether they will receive collection on the holiday.

Refuse unlawfully left out over a holiday could subject homeowners and owners of commercial establishments to a fine of up to $250, as well as create a potential health hazard and an eyesore.

Sanitation’s administrative office will be closed on Tuesday, July 4 in observance of the holiday.
