More Positive News

Dear Editor;

The front page of the June 17 issue of The Wave was not surprising. Again you apparently prefer to sensationalize the negative side of our community, but this time you did it with style. The headline "Wanted!" along with the article and picture of a local criminal misfit overshadowed the other two positive articles concerning a local hero fireman (Capt. John. M. Maloney), a local humanitarian (Mr. Gerald Dever), and plans to beautify Far Rockaway. Personally I was more interested in reading about the last three articles than reading about some character who isn't worth licking the dirt off the
shoes of the Captain.

Scanning the Wave's pages I counted some 40 plus articles concerning the good things about Rockaway (RAA activities, student awards, RMAC activities, PS114 photo spread, etc., etc.) against two negative reports (one of which was
flooding on Newport avenue). But, unfortunately, it's going to be the negatives that people will perceive as long as you give front page headlines to garbage.
