3 Shot In Far Rock
Cops Looking For Suspects

True Justice Womack and Scott Flake say they were sitting on a bench just outside of 51-32 Beach Channel drive in front of the Edgemere Housing Development at 10:20 p.m. Saturday night, June 17, when an unidentified gunman opened fire on them.

According to police from the 101 Precinct Detective Squad, Womack, 17, was shot twice in the left calf and once in the right knee. Flake, 31, was struck once in the right thigh. Womack was transported to Jamaica Hospital Center and Flake to Peninsula Hospital.

The shooting incident is alleged by the victims to have been unprovoked and police have little in the way of clues to the shooting. They are asking the community to help in finding the perpetrator who was simply described as a black male. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information dealing with the shooting is asked to call Detective Savine at the 101 Precinct Detective Squad at 718-868-3429.

A third victim of a shooting in Far Rockaway was Rafael Curano, 31, of Beach 25 street. According to police, Curano was shot in the face, chest and stomach at 2:49 a.m. Sunday, June 18, in front of 193 Beach 25 street. Although the victim alleges that his assailant was unknown to him, some witnesses to the shooting believe it was the result of a dispute and that Curano probably knew the shooter. Detectives from the 101 Precinct are asking the community to come forward with any information that might lead them to bringing the shooter to justice. Information relative to the Curano shooting should also be directed to Detective Savine at the 101 Precinct Detective Squad at 718-868-3429.
