The Roundball Roundup

The Roundballs took the field this past Sunday with hopes of ending the
day two games over five hundred. Then reality set in (we actually had to play the games) and we started figuring out how much umps and a keg is divided by fifteen.

Game one opened with the Roundballs surrendering 10 runs in the top of the first inning. After the rough start the Roundballs hung in and never quit closing the gap to five by the end of the sixth (15-10), only to have the Daggers plate six insurance runs in the top of the seventh to ice the game one victory by the score of 21-10.

Game two was close all the way till the end. After taking a 6-0 lead
after the second, the Daggers bats quieted as the Roundballs continually
chipped away at it. The Roundballs knotted the score in the sixth and took the lead by one in the top of the seventh. The one run lead was not enough as the Daggers would score two in their half of the inning to win the game and take the sweep.

Notes:

Pat O'Brien had his finest day as a Roundball going 3-3, with a home run and 3 runs scored.....

Mike Regan's streak of actually making it to the games (not just to the keg) is officially over after two hard fought weeks.....

Danny Allen has taken over the team lead in strikeouts as he went down swinging for the third time this season last Sunday.....

Sean Murray was sidelined for the second week in a row due to a job interview at Chippendale's.....

Newcomer Brian Carlton on why he decided to play with the Roundballs: "The team atmosphere here is very encouraging aside from that I wanted to see what drinking a free keg tasted like, I don't think I've ever done that
before".....

Mike Markle will be conducting a base running seminar on Saturday
at the open field at noon.....

This week's game ball goes to John Hanna being the only one to bring beer to the 10:00 game.....

Bobby Regan had a tough
game at short due to the fact that he was not hung over enough - we're sure that problem will be rectified next week.....

If anyone runs into Jack Allen please let him know that the season has started.....

The next weekend of
softball for the Roundballs is June 4 and many are hoping for the annual
performance of "Roc-Em Soc-Em Robots" made famous by Tommy Cook.....

The Roundballs would like to wish Lisa Regan a belated Happy Birthday.....

The Roundballs would also like to wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day weekend.....
