Treat Military Better

Dear Editor;

We have the best-equipped and the finest trained military in the world. The men and women in the uniform are putting their lives on the line every day with their courage and sacrifice. They do their best for us but the sad fact is that we are not doing our best for them.

It is disgraceful that the military pay scale has fallen so low that 12,000 military families are actually on food stamps. These men and woman who are willing to die for their country don't have enough money to feed their families.

Our congress and the President must do is increase the basic military pay. My congressional representative Peter King is supporting the Military Family Food Stamp Act (H.R.1055), which would provide a $500 tax credit for any military family that, qualifies for food stamps. While this is only a partial answer to this terrible situation, passage of this tax credit legislation will send a strong signal to the military who are on food stamps that the American people recognize and appreciate the sacrifices which they make for us. Please contact your legislators and voice your support for our military service men and women.
