Little League Launches First Game

By Marty Feeney

Broad Channel Athletic Club Jamaica Bay Little League is off and running. The first game of the new league saw Tommy's Pizza Mets against Century 21 Red's. The Red's came away with an exciting 10 -9 victory. John Hanning and Patrick Rich took the mound for the Red's and Ryan Feeney and James Kroog were on the mound for the Mets. The game was a seesaw battle throughout with
both teams putting on an offensive show. The game ended when John Hanning striking out the last Mets batter with the tying run on third.

The B.C.A.C minor boys Mets have upped their record to 2 and 1 as they beat The Beach Club Devil Rays and Car Park Yanks. Ryan Feeney, James Kroog, and Thomas Harnisher have shared the pitching duties and have done a great job. Ryan Feeney has been hot with the bat all season with 11 RBI's in the first three games including a grand slam against the Devil Rays. John Cunningham has been spectacular at the plate and on the field. James Kroog has had some great stuff on the mound in all three games. Thomas Harnisher, Colin Fogarty, John Jackson, Nick Gonzalez, Nick Stacks, George Logadice, and Chris Berrios have all contributed to the wins.

Gonzalez and Berrios have been speedsters on the base paths swiping bases each game. Thomas Harnisher pitched the first game of his young career and did awesome. The look on his face was worth a million dollars when he took the mound for the first time. The Mets face off against the tough Century 21 Red's today, Saturday, 11 a.m., at Memorial Field. Stop by, catch the game and see our field with the new batting machines inside our brand new batting cage.

Every division has had some great games so far. Every manager should write-up something about their team’s activities for the week and e-mail it to the B.C.A.C. website or The Wave at thewave@poboxes.com.
