Cops I.D. Beheaded Body

By Joan Ward George

Police have postively identified the beheaded body and separately found head to be that of Kelly Marcelus of 330 East 37 street, Brooklyn.

Marcelus reportedly worked as a Domino’s pizza deliveryman who was allegedly assaulted and robbed by David Trumpet while on a routine pizza delivery last May.

A criminal court case in the State Supreme Court in Brooklyn against Trumpet began jury selection last week and Marcelus was a key witness in the case. Marcelus disappeared on April 16, and it wasn’t until two days later that an anonymous tip let police to the badly burned decapitated head shoved into a plastic bag at the shoreline of Jamaica Bay and Beach 38 street. A headless badly burned body was found within minutes of the discovery of the head just 100 yards away, stuffed into a car in an abandoned garage.

Police are working under the assumption that the head and body both belonged to Marcelus. His wedding ring was found on his ring finger and identified by family members.

No one has yet to be charged with the homicide and police would not confirm as to whether or not there is a connection between Marcelus’ part in Trumpet’s trial and last week’s homicide.

Police from the 101 Precinct are still looking for any information that might lead them to Marcelus’ murderer(s). Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Jenkins at the 101 Precinct Detective Squad at 868-3429.
