Breezy Point Teen Swims To Success

Kurt Cedo, a freshman at Xaverian High School and Breezy Point resident, competed in the Eastern Zone Short Course Swimming Championships from March 30 through April 1 in Potomac Valley, Maryland.

Swimmers from 13 states vied for titles in a meet where outstanding achievements were common and fun was had by those who partook in the competition.

At the competition in Maryland, Kurt swam the 200 back in 2:00.50 and the 100 back in 56.45.

Kurt trains with the Staten Island Aquatics swim team six days a week, several hours each day after school, under the direction of Scott Bartleson. Even with a busy swim schedule, Kurt is maintaining First Honors during his freshman year at Xavier.

Kurt has a strong swimming history, having taken home three gold medals in individual events during the North Carolina Summer Games in June, 1999. He also achieved the Underclass Award, Joe Stetz Award, was named M.V.P. in the Frosh Championships, swam for the Catholic High Schools Athletic Association all-star team, and was named CHSAA league M.V.P.
