Brooklyn Man Murdered
On Beach 66th Boardwalk
By Joan Ward George
One of Rockaway’s isolated areas once again became the chosen host for a murder site sometime before 11 a.m. last Friday, April 14.
Police have identified the murder victim as Mark Simon, 33, of Borough Park Brooklyn. His body was initially discovered by two fishermen who came upon the murder victim on the boardwalk at Beach 66 street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard.
According to police, Martin had been shot numerous times in the torso and neck. Although police have not as yet revealed any information about Simon’s background, detectives from the 100 Precinct are conducting a complete investigation into the events that led up to Simon’s murder. However, they would also welcome any information that might further their attempts to apprehend the murderer or murderers who are responsible for the deed.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Bradshaw at the 100 Precinct detective squad at 318-4223.
Simon’s murder is the second homicide of the year for the 100 Precinct. The first homicide occurred on January 15 when a Brooklyn man was transported to Rockaway by car, shot and burned in a bunker at Fort Tilden. That crime was solved in a short time when the perps, who were known to the victim, were arrested by detectives of the 100 Precinct.
