Jackie Ryan, a senior at Stella Maris High School, recently competed in the Senior Metropolitan Championships. Swimming against Olympic trial qualifiers, Jackie achieved her career goal of qualifying for the Junior National Championships in Buffalo.

Jackie qualified for the Junior National Championships by performing a 100-yard butterfly in 58.3 seconds.

Achieving this goal for Jackie came with hard work. She trains at the aquatic center in Eisenhower Park, Long Island, before and after school, five hours a day, six to seven days a week. Along with aquatic excellence, Jackie has maintained academic excellence with an overall average of 98 over her high school years.

Jackie has been the Catholic High School Athletic Association League MVP for the past two years, has been the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard butterfly record holder, and was recently awarded the CHSAA's coaches' award for outstanding achievements in and outside of swimming.
