Mass of Christian Burial for Jessie Amari was celebrated on Monday, March 20 at St. Thomas More Church.
Jessie was a homemaker who moved to Breezy Point from Brooklyn.
Widow of the late Christopher, Jessie is survived by her daughter Catherine Norce; grandchildren Jacqueline Amari, Philip Amari, Frank Norce, jr., John Norce, Christopher Norce, and Diane Dentico; great-grandchild Michael Norce.
Jessie is predeceased by her son, the late Vincent, and her grandson, the late Christopher Amari.
Interment under the direction of Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Inc. was held at St. Charles Cemetery.
Rockaway Park Resident
Mass of Christian Burial for Charles Brush was celebrated on Monday, March 20 at St. Francis de Sales Church.
Charles lived in Rockaway many years, coming from the Bronx. He owned and operated a taxi company.
He is survived by his wife Delores; sons Douglas and Charles; daughter Kathleen; brother William; sister Elaine Barbely; and six grandchildren.
Interment under the direction of Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Inc. was held at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Englewood, New Jersey.

Service for Lois Barnett-Griffiths was held on Thursday, March 23 at Intercity Mission Church in Far Rockaway.
Lois is survived by her children Dionne, Bobby, Marsha, and Heather; sisters Doris, Beulah, and Shirley; two grandchildren; Ariel and Briana "her girls"; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
Interment under the direction of Jeremiah C. Gaffrey’s Funeral Home, Inc. was held at Pinelawn Cemetery, Farmingdale.
Mass of Christian Burial for John Griffin was celebrated on Thursday, March 23 at St. Camillus Church.
John was a World War II Army veteran. After the war he worked as a bookkeeper.
He was a lifelong summer resident of the Rockaways and moved here year-round in 1956.
John is survived by his wife Winifred; sons Richard and John; daughter Maureen Griffin; sisters Dorothy Griffin and Rita O’Rorke; grandchildren ToniMarie and Meghan; and great-grandsons Dominic and Michael.
Interment under the direction of Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Inc. was held at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx.

Marie Gross died on Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at Peninsula Hospital Center.
She worked as a real estate secretary for many years.
Marie is predeceased by her parents, the late Walter and Margrat Gross, and her brothers, the late Walter and Roy Gross.
She is survived by her nephew Roy Gross, jr.
Interment under the direction of Hillebrand Funeral Home, of Broad Channel, was held at Pinelawn Cemetery.

Service for Shirley Robinson was held on Wednesday, March 22, 2000.
Shirley attended Far Rockaway High School. She later became a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Arverne. There she served as a member of the church’s choir.
She is predeceased by her father, the late Christopher Reed.
Shirley is survived by her husband Kenneth Robinson; mother Elizabeth Reed; children David Reed, Justina Reed and Elizabeth Robinson; sister Justina Davis; brothers Uthman, Arthur, Dutch, and Donald; sister-in-laws Ann and Haffeezah; brother-in-law Rudolph Davis; seven grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Interment under the direction of Chatmon and Benson Funeral Home, Inc., of Inwood, was held at Fresh Pond Cemetery, Middle Village.
Gloria Vitucci died on March 18, 2000.
A resident of Lawrence, she was the beloved wife of the late Benjamin; loving mother of Christopher and his wife Anita; and the cherished grandmother of Crista.
Private services were held at St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village.

Service for Vera Williams was held on Sunday, March 19, 2000, at Outreach Church of God in Christ in Lawrence.
Vera became an active member in the Outreach Church of God in Christ in 1996. Her love for cooking found her in the kitchen at Outreach feeding the hungry in the Outreach Neighborhood Ministries food program at the Church on many Saturdays.
She is predeceased by her husband, the late Ronald Gene Williams, and her son, the late George Middleton.
Vera is survived by her daughter Ashley Williams and a host of relatives and friends.

Service for Mattie Mae Gaston was held on Monday, March 13, 2000, at St. John Baptist Church in Arverne.
Mattie moved to New York from Arkansas in 1965. She received a nursing assistant certificate from Wilfred Academy of New York.
She is predeceased by her grandson, the late Michael Gaston, and her sister, the late Nellie Daniels.
Mattie is survived by her son Harold Lorenzo Reed; daughters Lorita Done-Howell, Juanita Denise Reed Kelly, Terriel Renee Gaston, Cassandra Lorraine Gaston, and Ola Marie Gaston; sons-in-law Willie Howell and Travis Kelly; brother Leotis Gaston; sisters Ola Davis, Ruby Gaston, Geneva Mallory, Freddie Mallory, and Jewell Jarmon;15 grandchildren; one special great-grandchild Da’asia Lorita Ora Crosby; two special children Samuel Wattree and Sheena Arthur; uncles Nathaniel Davis and James Harris; special friends Medge, Josie, Mattie, and Shirley Keitt; and a host of other relatives and friends.
