Bernard was born in East Elmhurst, Queens to the late Consuella Brown and the late Edward Simmons. He grew up in the community of East Elmhurst where he attended elementary and junior high school. He later attended Newtown High School.
Bernard worked for the New York City Parks Department as a Park Ranger.
He is survived by his son Bernard Brown, jr., an aunt, an uncle and a host of cousins and very dear friends.
Final arrangements were made under the direction of Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Funeral Home, Inc.
Bridget T. Keenan
Belle Harbor Resident
Mass of Christian Burial for Bridget T. Keenan was celebrated on Monday, March 6 at St. Francis de Sales Church.
Bridget, also known as Bridie, was a Belle Harbor resident for 35 years. She was the Director of Nursing in The Brooklyn Hospital Center and a member of the Kings County Nursing Alumnae Association.
Widow of the late John P., Bridget is survived by her sons Teig and Rory; daughters Breda, Moira and Siobhan Keenan; brothers Timothy and Michael Brosnan; sisters Mary Marrone and Eileen Shaw; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Interment under the direction of Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home Inc., of Rockaway Park, was held at Calvary Cemetery.
James Kelly, Jr.
Service for James Kelly, jr. was held on Monday, February 7, 2000.
James was an artist by trade. He worked as a painter and a mason.
He is survived by his five grandchildren and a host of family members and friends.
Interment under the direction of Jeremaih C. Gaffney’s Funeral Home, Inc. was held at Calverton National Cemetery.
From Belle Harbor
Mass of Christian Burial for Ellen Mullen was celebrated on Wednesday, March 8 at St. Francis de Sales Church.
Ellen was a Belle Harbor resident since 1950. She was longtime member of St. Francis de Sales’ Golden Age Club.
She is predeceased by her brothers, the late John, Walter, Joseph and Gerard and her sisters, the late Elizabeth, Rosemary and Kathleen.
Widow of the late Felix, Ellen is survived by her sons Felix, James and Thomas; daughters Ellen O’Brien, Virginia Connolly, Barbara Camhi and Kathy Blum; brother Frank; 25 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Interment under the direction of Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Inc. was held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Theodore G. Peterson
From Far Rockaway
Theodore G. Peterson died on March 4, 2000 at St. John’s Hospital.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Theodore later worked as an accountant.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie (nee Ryan); sons Theodore, jr., James and Christopher; daughter-in-law Natalie; brother Joseph Abusio; grandchildren Sydney, Kyle and Lea.
Private services were held under the direction of the Lawrence Funeral Chapel, Inc.

Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Redican was celebrated on Tuesday, March 7 at St. Mary, Star of the Sea Church.
A Rockaway Park resident for 75 years, Mary was an executive assistant for the New York Telephone Company.
She is predeceased by her sisters, the late Therese Hughes and the late Kathleen Redican.
Mary is survived by her brother-in-law Thomas Hughes; niece Denise Graff; nephews Robert M. and Thomas A. Hughes; and eight great-grand nieces and nephews.

Service for Josephine Ward was held on Saturday, March 4, 2000 at Holy Temple Holiness Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Josephine worked as a caregiver for over forty years. She was the backbone of her family. Talented in arts and crafts, she was also a very good cook.
She was a Far Rockaway resident for over 45 years.
Josephine is survived by her daughters Alberta McKenzie, Betty Worwell and Rebecca Pop; sister Rebecca Herron; sister-in-law Mary Jane Robinson; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Roger Lewis, Robert Bullard, Ricky Urquhart, Mary Kelly, Baby Sister, Helen Wells, Gloria Richardson, Gloria Grant, Connie and Mr. and Mrs. Jarrell.
Interment under the direction on Lydia Pelver-Kirkland Funeral Home, Inc., of Philadelphia, was held at Merion Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania.
