Remember To Vote

Dear Editor;

Imagine! Next week we will have a primary election to choose candidates for President of the United States. Some people will not vote. They will choose to wait for the "real election." If they do that, the chances are that their candidate will not be on the real ballot because not enough votes were cast for him in the primary.

It is important for Rockaway residents to vote in all elections. Elected
officials are always running for the next election. They are looking at
statistics to see which places in their districts are most likely to help
them win. These are the places they will want to please. The message we want to send to them is that since you want us to listen to your pleas for our votes which add up to a considerable number (the last census puts about 110 thousand residents in Rockaway) they must listen to us when we tell them what
we want for our area. We must send the message, "Rockaway residents vote. Rockaway votes count. Rockaway watches what you do not only what you say."
