Beware St. John's

Dear Editor;

This letter is to let everybody know about St. John's Emergency Room. On January 20, 2000 I took my 13 year old son to the doctor, his left tonsil was blocking his airway, so they rushed him to the emergency room. I had a referral from the doctor's office so we would not have to sit and wait. After sitting there for five and a half hours, I wanted to take him to Peninsula Hospital, where there was a doctor waiting. They told me I could not move him because it was life threatening. I asked them if it's life threatening than why am I still waiting to see a doctor. They told me if I left they would have me handcuffed and arrested and they would call child welfare and have my three children taken away from me.

The doctors all started looking
at him, they could not find any sterile instruments for the doctor to use.
They were nasty and rude. My son started spitting out blood and they had no bowl for him to spit into. The bathrooms were filthy/dirty. He stayed in the hospital for three days. They ran out of pills to give him so they had to put another IV in. The bathroom in his room was not cleaned until the day he left. The nurses on the pediatric ward were very nice but, the emergency room I would not bring a dying dog to. So beware of Saint John's Hospital.
They really need to close down or get better staff in the emergency room.
