Museum Exhibit Opens Sunday

Wave Historian Emil Lucev puts the final touches on the antique bottle exhibit currently featured at the Rockaway Museum

Rockaway residents of all ages are invited to the opening of the "Time In A Bottle" exhibit on Sunday, January 30 at the Rockaway Museum, located in The Wave building, 88-08 Rockaway Beach boulevard. The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

"Time In A Bottle" is a collection of glass bottles of all types, colors, shapes and sizes. All of the antique glass containers have been dug out and recovered from the marshes of Jamaica Bay and old buildings in Rockaway--from Far Rockaway to Rockaway Point--as well as construction sites and empty lots. The glass bottles on display date from 1872 to prohibition, which began in 1919.

There will also be remnants of the Rockaways' Playland exhibit.

Attendance is free of charge.
