The Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department tackled an 'all-hands' house fire at 115 Noel Road on Tuesday, January 18. The firefighters discovered upon arrival a blaze in a rear burner room, which extended into a wall and headed toward the attic.

Joined by Engine Companies 266, 331, and 268 and Ladder Companies 173 and 137, the Broad Channel crew made an aggressive interior attack of the one story wood frame house.

According to BCVFD Chief Tim Keenan, who was in command of the scene, the firefighters had to break open the bathroom wall, which was where the fire was traveling. Had the firefighters not responded as quickly as they did, it would have been a matter of minutes before the blaze reached the attic. Keenan said there is a "high potential for total loss" once the fire hits the attic.

The call was received at 3:21 p.m., with the Broad Channel Volies on the scene at 3:24 p.m. The fire was under control at 3:50 p.m.

Keenan said the cause of the fire was "accidental" and there were no injuries.
