Dot on Roxbury

by Dotty Taphouse

Ronald Francis Farrell and Erika Bragette Boccio became engaged on the stroke of the new millennium-New Year 2000. At a house party on New Year's Eve at the Boccio's home in Breezy Point when the ball at Times Square dropped for the last time to welcome in the new year, Ronnie Farrell was on his knee proposing to Erika to marry him. She was stunned and accepted and received a gorgeous engagement ring. No further wedding plans are made yet. Ursula and Michael Boccio are Erika's delighted parents. Else Beier is her happy grandma. Dorothy and Ronnie Farrell are Ronnie's very pleasant parents and Mildred Cox and Dotty Taphouse (me) are the elated grandmas. Congratulations.

Congratulations to Noreen Curry and Brian Byrne on their engagement on Christmas Eve. Their wedding plans are for later in the year 2000. Kathleen and Eddie Curry are Noreen's very pleased parents and Patsy and Pat Byrne, Brian's parents, are very happy too.

Roxbury was bouncing on New Year's Eve. The Mayor's Committee had a fantastic New Year's party in the clubhouse, organized by the "Drifters" and their helpers. Jeanette Siniscalchi was in charge of the room and table décor and with her crew did a beautiful job. Frannie Jamin of JAMCO catered the delicious sit down dinner with help from the waitresses Trish, Lisa and Kara. The D.J. was very good and the drinks were flowing. Bob Taphouse and Mary Armour were the excellent bar mixologists. The party was a great way to welcome the year 2000 and have a good time.

A New Year's Eve party was held in Father Hession hall by the younger group from Roxbury. Jeanine Livingston and Sandy Reid were the chairladies and with their helpers ran a fabulous party. Debra Taphouse, Mary Beth Reid, Edna Reid, etc. were in charge of the beautiful decorations. Classic Cuisine catered the delicious buffet. There was plenty to drink and a good D.J. for dancing. Mike Barbosa and his crew made their own funny hats at a table in the corner. Another great way to enjoy the new millennium year 2000.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Nicole Duemig (Sweet Sixteen)-December 30, 1999.
