Broad Channel Sports Update By Marty Feeney Broad Channel Athletic Club has announced that the final registration Children between the ages of five through 18 can register for tee-ball, softball and baseball. Registration has been going well with the start of the new little league right around the corner. Little League President Gene Guttieri is urging parents/guardians of any child that wants to be a part of B.C.A.C. history to get out and register in November. A reminder that there is no fee due at the time of registration--so this should not be an excuse for anyone not registered. There will be a division for girl's softball between the ages of 16 through 18. Any girls interested in playing should register. If anyone decides to register late their will be a late charge added to your registration fee and they will be put on a waiting list. The best way is to get out and register now. A parent/guardian meeting was held last Tuesday at the V.F.W hall and it was very positive with many interested people attending. The A.C would like to thank the members of the V.F.W for the use of their hall. Their will be a monthly little league meeting held the first Tuesday of every month at the V.F.W. hall 7:30 p.m. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 7. Boys and girls basketball is in full swing with the home games played at JHS 180 on Wednesday nights. The coaches have the teams playing some great basketball and this seems like a winning season with all the beeping going on around town. A reminder to all the coaches, town beeping is fun for all but should not be done after 9 p.m., some residents that live on the boulevard have requested this so please, no beeping after 9:00 p.m. Football and soccer seasons are coming to an end. This had been a very positive year for both programs as the girl's soccer games have been very exciting. Each season the girls improve and are bound to be a force in the C.Y.O. soccer program. The coaches are to be commended for a great job. The football program in its Pee-Wees led by head coach Mike Shea have had a wonderful season finishing second place in their division just one point out of first place. This team of seven and eight year old players has put on a show for the home crowd at every game. Led by quarterback Bubba McMahon the offense is outstanding. The unbelievable dashing run by Seamus Kelly has to be witnessed to be believed. This first year player has all the tools to be one of the best in the years to come. Jack Tubridy, Ronnie Lonnborg, Gerard Zimmerman and John Mcarthy are fantastic runners, cutting through holes behind the blocking of Brain Wallace, Chris Berrios,Philly Dog D'agostino, Brian Faught and the rest of the offensive line. The defense led by Joe Laporta has been dynamite. Eleven and 12 year-old Ponies have played a great season, already qualifying for the playoffs.
