Teal, Broad Channel Tie Game

Rockaway Teal Mites and the Broad Channel Mites played to a 7-7 tie in a game that featured plenty of exciting action and several lead changes.

Rockaway Mites got on the scoring board first when Jason Perrone squeezed one past the diving Broad Channel goalie. Broad Channel quickly came back and scored four unanswered goals with Lonborg and Knee leading their attack. The first period ended 4-2 after Sean Siederman converted on a beautiful assist from Joe Durant .

Rockaway's Teal hung tough in the second period thanks to the fine all play of Thomas Siederman, Brian Woods, Nathanial Jean-Pierre, Michael Brennan, and Thomas Gersh playing strong on their lines. After Broad Channel scored two goals, Brendan Meade counted with a break away goal to cut the lead to 6-3 after two periods.

The third period showed both teams determination. Teal came back from a 6-3 deficit to take the lead 7-6 with three goals from Seiderman and one from Meade. Chris Foreman provided the same excellent goaltending provided earlier by Andrew and Stephan Harrs. However, Teal could not stop Broad Channel's offensive assault, which enabled them to tie the score up in the final seconds.

Both teams were commended for their fine performances. Coach Jim Higgins treated his team to a pizza party at the end of the game.
