Red And Black Mites Mix It Up

On Sunday morning the Rockies Red Mites defeated the Black Mites in an exciting, well fought contest.

Thomas Ryan got the scoring started with two early first period goals. Andrew Cahalan and Jimmy McCabe deserve some big assist credit. Eddie Warren wins the award for most goals scored in a single shift- 3 for the hat trick. Meegen Reed and Elizabeth Cholakis provided excellent defensive coverage of the Red lines.

In the second period, the Black teams' Billy Ormsby unleashed his deadly slapshot. He let rip two bullets in the Red net to put his team back
in this gritty contest. The Reds' Neil Howard returned the fire with two
goals of his own. Black skaters Chris Kirchein and Sean Touhey played smart and tough at both ends of the rink. Red players Thomas Kirby and Ryan Laurain skated fast and strong and lead some great drives.

Third frame saw lots of action. Billy Ormsby, Neil Howard and Thomas Ryan all managed to finesse the puck into the net for the third time to complete hat tricks. Thomas Ryan went on to score two additional goals for a grand total of five for the game! Sean Kirby and Michael Mangano each scored twice. John Moran and Stephen Pulkowski scored one goal apiece. Kyle Pareja and William Trustum engaged in some great end-to-end rushes. Kieran Rogers completed some smooth passes.

Red coach Sean Kirby and Black coach Walter 'Dancer' Rogers praised the contributions of all the players. Next Sunday Red plays at 9 a.m. and Black has the week off.
