Alison Bergen was very aggressive on offense scoring seventeen points and Gail Brady added to the lead with her eleven points. Kearney had taken the lead and never looked back. They beat St. Saviour 52-21.

After that win Kearney moved on to play St. Joseph By The Sea on Saturday. Kearney, aware of St. Joseph’s ability, knew the game was going to be close. Kearney got off to a slow start and were behind by ten points in the first quarter. An excellent second brought Kearney in the lead at half time. Kearney maintained lead through third quarter. However, the lead went back and forth through fourth quarter. Sophomore Alison Bergen showed her skill scoring 33 points. And Gail Brady helped the team with 10 points. Kearney didn’t give up without a fight, but in the end the final score was St. Joseph’s 62 and Kearney 58.

On Sunday, the last day of the tournament, Kearney faced Mary Louis in the Consolation Game for third place. Kearney’s team was ready to play and showed their spectacular offensive skills, which gave them a lead of nine points at half time. Alison Bergen scored most of her 24 points on drives to the basket and Kim Procida scored eight points on fast breaks down the court. However, in the second half Mary Louis took the lead and Kearney was unable to regain. Kearney lost to Mary Louis 55-52.

Overall Kearney placed fourth in the tournament and Alison Bergen was selected to the All Tournament Team. Alison has a total of 75 points for all three games, the greatest number of points ever scored in this tournament. However, all the girls on Kearney’s team deserved an award for their great efforts both offensively and defensively.

Congratulations girls and have a great season!
