Dot on Roxbury

by Dotty Taphouse

A wonderful surprise birthday party was held December 4 in the Roxbury firehouse in honor of Mae Colleran’s big 50 birthday of December 24. It was planned by her husband Dick and their children. The delicious food was catered by the family. There was plenty to drink and D.J. Joey played the music for dancing. Mary received many beautiful gifts and her comment was "It’s great to be 50." She would like to thank her family and friends for being there with their birthday wishes and gifts. Happy birthday Mary.

The Christmas party and 50/50 of the Roxbury Catholic Club was held in the clubhouse on December 4. The delicious food was catered by Donald Feimer of Classic Cuisine and the drinks were plentiful. There was live music for dancing and some very happy winners. Joe Ferrandino was the chairman and with his crew ran another great party.

The lighting of the Roxbury Christmas tree by the Roxbury Food Market was held Friday, December 10. After the ceremony the children and parents were invited to Father Hession Hall for the goodies and fun. Santa was atop a ladder on the stage when he put his head through a curtain and shouted Ho-Ho-Ho to the children’s delight. There was pizza, refreshments, and a gift from Santa for all the children. Jim Norris sr. was the jolly Santa and two characters from Pokemon helped by entertaining the children. Joanne Norris and Pat Rodman were the chairpersons and with their helpers ran a fine party despite the bad weather earlier in the day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to: Danny Durante, December 18.

HAPPY FIRST WEDDING ANNIVERSARY to: Christy and John Durante, December 19. Love ya, Dot.
