Ruth D. Ayala, Formerly Of Arverne

Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth D. Ayala was celebrated on Wednesday, December 8 at St. Mary, Star of the Sea in Far Rockaway.

She died on December 3 in Sierra Medical Center in El Paso, Texas.

Ruth lived in Arverne for many years and moved to New Mexico last year.

She is survived by her husband Jamie; son Jamie Jose; and sisters Migdalia Diaz, Marilyn Diaz, Nilda Diaz and Nellie Diaz.

Interment under the direction Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Inc., of Rockaway Park, was held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Kew Gardens.

Patrick Faulhaber, From Rockaway

Patrick Faulhaber died on December 4, 1999.

He is survived by his parents Robert and Cathy Faulhaber; sisters Maryann, Jane and Beth; brothers Robert, John, Thomas and James (Liz); and many loving aunts and uncles.

Private services were held under the direction of Lawrence Funeral Chapel, Inc.

Josephine Rizzo, Rockaway Resident

Mass of Christian Burial for Josephine Rizzo was celebrated on Thursday, December 9 at St. Rose of Lima Church.

Josephine was a Rockaway Beach resident for 75 years, coming from Naples, Italy.

She is predeceased by her grandson the late Douglas Grady.

Beloved wife of the late Dominic, Josephine is survived by her daughters Mary Grady and Theresa Rizzo; grandchildren Richard and Amber Grady, Ann and Bill Baldenko, John and Nancy O’Neil and Patricia and Steven Hanly; great-grandchildren Diana, Michael, Graceann and Jessica.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Inc. was held at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale.

Anton J. Toman, U.S. Postal Worker

Mass of Christian Burial for Anton J. Toman was celebrated on Wednesday, December 8 at St. Rose of Lima Church.

He served in the Army during World War II and came out a Tech 5.

Anton was a lifetime Arverne resident who worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was also a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his sister Rose Nast; nephew William Nast; Frank and Ira Goldberg; niece Rose Szkandy; grandnephew Brian Nast; grandnieces Kathryn Nast and Rose Anne Indelicato.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Inc. was held at Calverton National Cemetery.

Joseph Toscano, World War II Veteran

Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph Toscano was celebrated on Saturday, December 11 at St. Camillus Church.

Joseph served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He later worked as an aircraft mechanic for Lockheed Aircraft.

He was a Rockaway Park resident for 25 years, coming from the Bronx. Joseph was a past Commander of O’Connell Post as well as a past Chaplin. He was also a member of the Knights of Colombus.

Widower of the late Josephine (nee Raynor), Joseph is survived by his son Joseph jr., daughter Mary Toscano; grandchildren Robert Levy and Hope Prudenti; and two great-grandchildren.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Inc. was held at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx.

Christie Williams, From Far Rockaway

Christie Williams died September 29, 1999. Services were held October 6.

She was born in Carlton, Alabama to the late Charlie and Corean Collins. She moved to Far Rockaway in 1961.

Christie worked in the human resources department at both Neponsit Health Care and Resort Nursing Home. She was a wonderful, warm-hearted person who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed to bowl and was active in the community where she also belonged to the Eight is Enough social club.

She is survived by her son James Williams; daughters Marilyn Williams, Carolyn Cave and Adrienne Williams; husband Jim Williams; son-in-law Skip Cave; grandchildren Christie, Alfred, Latavia, Kierra, Aubin, RaeLeah and Jaleel; sisters Gladys Bush, Velma Rocker, Corine (Estee) Thomas; brothers Charlie (Leonia) and Wilmer (Dorothy); devoted friend Grace Walker; step-daughter Sabrina Collins; niece Zondra Jackson; a host of other family members, friends and church family including Maggie, Edna, Bonnie and the Nurses Unit.

Interment under the direction of Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Funeral Home, Inc., was held at Nassau Cemetery, Port Washington, Long Island.
