Holiday Spirit Shines
Rockaway's alive with the holiday spirit once again. The annual Menorah lighting ceremony was scheduled for Friday, December 3 at 4:30 p.m. to celebrate Chanukah, with music by West End Temple, hot chocolate and Chanukah gelt.
On Wednesday, December 8 at 5 p.m., the annual Christmas tree lighting will take place. The Beach Club will provide free candy canes and hot chocolate while the kids are treated to a visit by Santa.
Both the Menorah and Christmas lighting take place on Beach 116 street (across from Greenpoint Bank).
If you miss Santa at the Christmas tree lighting, he'll be back in town on Saturday morning, December 11 at The Beach Club. Sponsored by the 100 Precinct Community Council, the breakfast offers two seatings, 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., which includes a photo with Santa, Christmas balloons, and a gift.
Tickets must be purchased in advance at The Beach Club. All children must be accompanied by an adult (maximum two children per adult). Proceeds go to Fireworks 2000.
Far Rockaway will celebrate Christmas with a tree lighting on Thursday, December 9 at 4:30 p.m. on Mott avenue and Beach 20 street.
