by Dotty Taphouse

Jenna Marie Cavale, daughter of Susanne and Al Cavale, was baptized on November 20, 1999, in Sacred Heart Church in Island Park, Long Island. Her godparents are Roseann Yohannon and Alphonse Cavale. Jeanna is the baby sister to Kayla and granddaughter of Edna and Tom Francis and Phil Cavale. A delighted Christening party was held after the beautiful ceremony in the American Legion Hall in Rockville Center, Long Island, with plenty of good food and drinks for all to enjoy.

A surprise baby shower was given on November 20 to Patty Thornhill in the Roxbury Catholic Club. Patty was really surprised and received many lovely gifts for the new heir. Donald Feimer of Classic Cuisine catered the delicious buffet. The shower was given by both families. Patty, the expectant mom, is the daughter of Dotty Wolf and Glenn Thornhill, the expectant dad, is the son of Betty and Wil Thornhill. The new baby should arrive on December 31, 1999.

A busload of Golden Agers from Breezy Point, etc. were off on Wednesday, November 17 to Westbury Music Fare to enjoy the performances of Tony Orlando and Joey Casella and the Springtime Revue. Good seats and then a good dinner at the Coral House. I was the leader and it was a very nice day.

A mini card party was held in St. Edmond's Hall in Breezy Point on Thursday, November 18. Ronnie McCarthy and Midge Steinert were the chairladies and Midge's two pretty granddaughters Elizabeth and Katie Lang were their helpers. It was well-attended, very nice prizes and yummy refreshments plus a miniature Christmas tree for everyone.

Rockaway Point Catholic Club had another Century Dinner Dance on Saturday, November 20 at the clubhouse. Frannie Jamin of JAMCO and his helpers Kara, Trish, and Lisa catered the delicious dinner. Frank Murphy and Joe Lynch were the chairmen and with helpers Jose Haugh, Tom Crawford, John Gavin, etc., ran the affair. Bob Cass played the music for dancing and the good bartenders were Martin and Joey. The lucky winners were all smiles!

A lovely bridal shower was held on Sunday, November 21 at the Beach Club for Jeanne Hynes. Jeanne was thrilled and received many beautiful gifts. Jeanne is the daughter of Patricia and Joe Hynes of Breezy Point and her future husband Keith Cook is the son of Pat and Walter Cook of Roxbury. The bridal couple will be married on January 22, 2000 in St. Thomas More's Church in Rockaway Point.

Love ya, Dot.
