I would like to take this opportunity to list the honorees for our upcoming "Parade 2000" our 25 annual tribute to the Patron Saint of Ireland, St. Patrick. Grand marshal's are--the honorable Jack Ahern, local 30 operating engineers; the honorable Rosemary Lombard, educator, female
grand marshal; the honorary grand marshal's are Dr. Geraldine Chapey and the Honorable Lew Simon. The following is a list of our deputy grand marshal's: the Honorable Rosemary Sullivan, the Honorable Betty Dermody, the Honorable William Lavin, the Honorable Frank Dowd, the Honorable Chris Bowles, the Honorable Mike McCarthy, the Honorable Al
Stabile, the Honorable Robert Johnson, the Honorable W. Flaherty (Rockies) and the Honorable Judge Ann Dufficy.
The parade committee would like to acknowledge the past support of our parade by the residents and business's of the Rockaway community, which have been listed in previous editions of The Wave, and would
like to remind our community that the parade would not be a parade without the continued support of the Rockaway community.
Our parade members will be going around with our supporter cards that will be displayed in the windows of supporting businesses.
Also I would like to list the following fundraising activities by the parade committee: the annual Hearts and Shamrock Dance, Sunday, January 23, 2000, St. Camillus Springman Hall, 4-8 p.m., tickets $25 each, free beer (byob). Tickets available from the Blackwater, Kerry Hills, Palm Garden Pub, and Irish Circle Pub. Also our annual Gala Dinner Dance will be held at Antun's on Saturday, February 19. We have also scheduled bar fundraisers which will be publicized in the future with a proposed new ocean run under the auspices of Thomas Touhey, John Brennan,
and Katethryn Kash, with the aide of Joe Featherstone and Jim Mcveigh.
Once again we thank you for your continued support of our parade, which we feel is the premier event of the Rockaway community. Watch for parade events on An Suil Na Gael on Monday on channel 56 at 7:30 p.m. and on Friday at 5 p.m. on channel 34.
