Glad About Bus Stop

Dear Editor;

As a resident of the community I would like you to know my appreciation of the continued efforts to make our neighborhood a safe, clean and beautiful place to live.

I am thrilled that the bus no longer stops in front of the library on Rockaway Beach boulevard and 117 street. I pass that location every day and several nights a week quite late when returning from college classes at night. When the bus stopped at that location, there always was a collection of people blocking the walkway on the sidewalk, (not standing by the bus stop line) sitting near the corner on the tree pots, huddled in the library alcove, smoking (not sure what) drinking from a brown paper bag and acting frisking with one another (in a manner that
often appeared lewd), and the area was littered with debris.

Since the bus has been moved, the area is clean, no one is sitting on the pots or loitering by the library entrance and blocking the sidewalk. I feel much safer walking by at any hour (especially those late hours) to get to my home and traffic appears to flow evenly without cars trying to pass the standing bus. I hope to thank the people responsible for the removal of the Q22 bus stop.
