No Trash Collection
There will be no street cleaning or refuse, recycling, and leaf collection conducted by the New York City Department of Sanitation on Thursday, November 25, in observance of Thanksgiving Day.
Regarding the Thanksgiving Day collection schedule, residents who normally receive Thursday garbage collection should place their trash at curbside Thursday evening for Friday collection. These residents may experience a slight disruption of on time household collection service.
Areas that are scheduled to to receive refuse and recycling collection on Friday, November 26, should place their trash at curbside as normally scheduled. Areas with Thursday alternate week curbside recycling collection will receive service on Friday, November 26. Areas with weekly Thursday curbside recycling collection schedules will receive collection on Thursday, December 2.
Shopkeepers, restaurant mangers, and other merchants who are serviced by private carting companies should contact their refuse haulers to determine to determine whether they will receive collection on the holiday.
Refuse unlawfully left out over a holiday could subject homeowners and owners of commercial establishments to a fine of up to $250, as well as create a potential health hazard and an eyesore.
The department’s administrative offices will be closed Thursday, November 25, in observance of the holiday.
