Meet The Irish

by Harry McGuirk

All Ireland stood last Wednesday as the clock headed for noon! There was anticipation that the IRA was to issue an important statement pertaining to peace. It seems that the peace process is being accelerated with constant meetings between Sinn Fein leaders and Unionist Party leader David Trimble and his leadership team.

You could feel it in the air---peace. No one cane deny that everyone is talking very carefully to each other. Both parties seem to be very tolerant of each other and seem to understand each other's problems. They each are determined to bring the bright new day to that lovely peace of earth called Ulster.

There is great sympathy for David Trimble. He is admired for his courage. A big portion of his party, the Unionist Party, are against him and the Good Friday Agreement, but the people north and south voted unanimously for peace.

So, please God--the memories of killings, bombings and the murders of men, women and children, which has haunted so many people, will fade away and the peace of God will enhance Ireland forever and ever.
