Teal Defeats Red In Final Seconds

Rockaway Mites Teal won a tremendous game on Sunday by scoring two goals in the final seconds to defeat Red 4-3. After playing two solid periods in goal, Joseph Durante led the third period offensive attack by scoring a goal with 30 seconds remaining in the game and one with two seconds remaining which enabled Teal to upset the undefeated Red team.

This game was action packed from the beginning. Teal jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Michael Brennan's first goal. After Red tied the game at one, Jonathan Michaels scored his first goal to put Teal in front again 2-1. The game was tied at two after the first period and Red would eventually go ahead 3-2 to start the third period. Teal kept it close in this hard fought war with guts and determination as well as outstanding defensive from the first line of Jason Perrone, Brendon Meade, Michael Forcina, and Sean Siederman along with spectacular goal saving from Steven Harrs. It was the second line of Thomas Siederman, Brian Woods, and Andrew Harrs, and Thomas Gersh who helped set up the tying and winning goals. They kept the puck in Red's zone that enabled Durante to score both his goals. Teammates Chris Forman and Nathaniel Jean Pierre should also be credited for helping Teal pull out this win with their fine all around play throughout the game.
