Black Mites Defeat Broad Channel

Black Mites braved the first signs of winter Sunday morning, November 7, to defeat Broad Channel 9-0, in a shortened, two period game.

They were led by centerman Michael Mangano, who capped a four goal outing with a "one timer" off the stick of Billy Ormsby for his 15th goal of the year. Billy put in his third of the game and seventh of the year on a blistering shot from the circle. Sean Towey, who rounds out the first line came close on several chances, including a rebound off the left post. William Trusttum turned in another fine defensive game with multiple assists.

Zach Wade and Xander McDonald-Smith shared the shutout as each took a turn between the pipes. Zach came out in period two to score his first goal of the season. John Moran, showing his blazing speed, scored on a breakaway late in the game. Anchoring the offense on line two was partner, Danny Donahue, who is improving his game with lightning speed. Kieran Rogers, in his dad's absence, had one of his best games to date. Anthony Willis was everywhere the puck was along with Chris Kirchen (nice to see you Janet)!
"Mighty" Max Linden and Athena McDonald-Smith continue to be in the thick of things and may be ready to take it up a notch.

An overall team effort with unselfish play and continued improvement of their hockey skills led to another great day on the rink for the Black Mites.
