From the Shores of

Beach Channel High School

This year Beach Channel High School will host its first Thanksgiving dinner for senior citizens of the Rockaway community on Thanksgiving Day between 12 noon and 3 p.m. We have invited the Hammels Senior Citizens Center, JASA Senior Citizen Center, the seniors from St. Rose of Lima, St. Francis de Sales, St. Camillus and various nursing homes on the Rockaway peninsula.

We will be urging our local restaurants to contribute the turkeys and our supermarkets to contribute the appetizers, vegetables and paper goods. Our staff will bake home made pies for this occasion. Our band will play and our chorus will sing. Our finest youngsters will serve our finest seniors and both groups can only benefit from this experience.

If the dinner is a success, and we are sure it will be, we intend to make this a tradition at our school. Indeed, through the unselfish efforts of staff and especially our students, the true spirit of Thanksgiving will be alive and well and thriving at Beach Channel High School.
