Dot on Roxburyby Dotty Taphouse
Cheryl and Patrick Brodie are the very proud parents of a baby girl, Kelsey Elizabeth Brodie, who entered our world on October 26, 1999, weighing seven pounds, eight and a half ounces, and 19 inches long. Big Brother Liam is very proud of his new baby sister. The happy grandparents are Jerri and Bill Bocker and Roberta and Bill Brodie. Florence Shaw is Kelsey's thrilled great grandma.
The first Friday luncheon of St. Genevieve's was held on November 5 with a Mass followed by the luncheon in Father Hession hall. Addie Ickowski was the chairperson and with her helpers, cake bakers, donators, ran a very nice luncheon. The delicious food was catered by the Roxbury Barn II and the designated bartender was Jim Norris.
On Friday night, Carmel Quinn was the entertainer in Father Hession hall and her performance was so great she received a standing ovation.
Veteran's Day, November 11, was remembered by the VFW Post 8540 with a Mass in the morning at St. Genevieve's Church on November 6. A dinner dance was held in St. Genevieve's hall that evening. Tom Mitchell, commander for 1999/2000, gave the invocation. He then introduced Senior Vice Commander, Bill Kamper, and Junior Vice Commander, John Costello, who were also the chairmen of the affair. Larry Cawley, past commander 1997/1998, was presented with a very nice plaque in his honor for a job well done. Dr. Geraldine D. Chapey of the Board of Regents and Dr. Geraldine M. Chapey, Democratic district leader, were honored guests. Frannie Jamin of JAMCO and his crew catered the delicious dinner and there was plenty of refreshments plus a three piece band for dancing. Tom Haugh was in charge of about 10 door prizes and Rosemary Flannery won the money prize. Another great enjoyable affair.
