HIT AND RUN

Sixteen year old James Gordon was struck and killed by a hit and run driver early Sunday morning at the corner of Beach 20 street and Seagirt boulevard.
According to police investigating the incident, Gordon, of Meehan avenue in Far Rockaway, was crossing the accident prone intersection at approximately 12:30 a.m. Sunday when he was hit by a dark colored sports utility vehicle which fled the scene without stopping.
Gordon was transported to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital where his death was declared.
The case has been assigned to the NYPD’s Accident Investigation Squad and the investigators are reaching out to the community for any information whatsoever that may lead them to the identity of the driver of the hit and run car. The investigators stressed that any information, regardless of how trivial one might feel, many times leads to assistance in solving such cases. According to the 101 Precinct, this intersection has been determined to be a accident prone location. Within the past month there have been four reported accidents that resulted in three injuries and Gordon’s death.
