No Garbage Pickup Election Day
There will be no street cleaning, refuse or recycling collection by the New York City Department of Sanitation on Tuesday, November 2, in observance of Election Day.
Regarding the collection schedule, residents who normally receive Tuesday garbage collection should place their trash out at curbside Tuesday evening for Wednesday collection. These residents may experience a slight disruption of on time household collection service.
Areas that are scheduled to receive garbage collection on Wednesday, November 3, should place their trash at curbside as normally scheduled. Areas with Tuesday alternate week curbside recycling collection will receive service on Wednesday, November 3. Areas with Tuesday weekly curbside recycling collection schedules will receive collection on Tuesday, November 9.
Shopkeepers, restaurant managers, and other merchants who are serviced by private carting companies should contact their refuse haulers to determine whether they will receive collection on the holiday.
Refuse unlawfully left out over a holiday could subject homeowners and owners of commercial establishments to a fine of up to $250, as well as create a potential health hazard and an eyesore.
The department’s administrative offices will be closed on Tuesday, November 2, in observance of the holiday.
