Body Found In Bay

By Joan Ward George

Police from the 100 Precinct are looking for clues to help identify a body found Wednesday afternoon in the waters of Jamaica Bay near the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges bridge.

According to 100 Precinct Commanding Officer Captain Gary Scirica, the NYPD Harbor division was on routine patrol Tuesday afternoon when they came upon a floating corpse. Detectives from the 100 Precinct were called to the scene. According to police, the body was that of a late 20’s to early 30’s black male, with no apparent wounds.

Captain Scirica stated that the body, which appeared to be in the water for a couple of days, was transported to the New York City Medical Examiner’s office for examination and determination of cause of death. However, the police said that it did not initially appear that foul play was involved. Anyone with information about a missing person fitting this brief physical description is asked to cal the 100 Precinct Detective Squad at 318-4224.
